NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA , August 21, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation and Healing Center partnered with Parsons School of Design’s Open Style Lab in a movement to enhance the lives of the aging and disabled. The Summer program led by Executive Director and Assistant Professor, Grace Jun, launched in early June on the campus of The Riverside in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The research fellowship was in efforts to allow Parsons students an opportunity to engage in real-time workshops, building both content and knowledge to support Open Style Lab’s theme of mobility.

The concept of the fashion lab centered on identifying universal design solutions for those challenged with disabilities. Through a person-centered design exploration, residents of The Riverside were treated through an individualized plan of care by application of purposeful aesthetics to meet their personal needs.

Through group consultation and research methods, students were able to engage with residents of The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation and Healing Center, and build deep connections through intergenerational programming. A core value of the The Riverside and the parent organization, CareRite Centers, is to support the community at-large and serve as a guided resource, especially through intergenerational programming.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be a partner of Open Style Lab. The students in this program are paving the way to overcoming adversity and bringing equal opportunity for fashion and everyday life to so many,” began Ashley Romano, National Director of Patient Experience/Research Development at CareRite Centers, LLC. “Open Style Lab is bridging the gap - allowing age, diversity, and disability to be known as something we can no longer overlook. Through their efforts, we hope this draws valued attention to what needs to be incorporated when it comes to care, design, and overall creation.”

As a licensed gerontologist, Romano of CareRite Centers served as an honorary panelist for Open Style Lab's Final Showcase on Saturday, August 18th, alongside leaders in the fields of fashion, senior care, and clinical innovation.

The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation and Healing Center is a member of the national CareRite Centers Network with sister centers across the states of New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Tennessee. Like all communities within the CareRite Centers network, the uncommon denominator at The Riverside Premier Rehabilitation and Healing Center is that every touchpoint of every experience will not only meet, but will exceed your expectations.
