Eve got the start to her Labor Day weekend early with a little beach time. The rapper posted a fresh-faced photo of herself looking relaxed and wearing no makeup.

The Talk co-host looks as if she is aging backward and her followers and fans were incessantly commenting on how great her skin looks and what a glow up she has. People wondered if the beauty had gone vegan, if it has to do with her billionaire husband, and more.

A good skincare routine starts from the inside out and while we don’t have a billionaire to bestow on you, we do have a good base skincare routine that will help keep your skin clear, your wrinkles at bay, and give you a healthy glow.

A good skincare routine starts from the inside. No matter how many topical treatments you place on your skin, if you aren’t giving your skin (the largest organ on your body, I might add) the nutrients it needs, it’s not going to thrive. Eat your fruits and vegetables, yes, they really are good for you! Carrots are great for fighting breakouts due to the vegetable being in beta-carotene and vitamin A. Beta-carotene prevents the overproduction of cells, meaning less flaky dead cells that can clog your pores. Red and orange vegetables are proven to improve your skin and give a radiant glow, so also add sweet potatoes to your diet! Vitamin C also helps your body build collagen so go heavy on your yellow peppers and oranges. Don’t ignore spices either, turmeric is a known anti-inflammatory. Adding this to your diet (I personally throw mine in my smoothie) can help minimize breakouts and how long they last.

After you’ve started taking care of the inside, now you can focus on the outside. A good skincare routine consists of both a day and night routine. At night, you want to make sure you remove all of your makeup and buildup from the day. Even if you don’t wear makeup, the elements of the outside can clog your pores and make you more prone to breakouts. Try Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Clay Cleanser ($45.00, Sephora.com), which is a great daily facial cleanser for all skin types. The French green clay and Moroccan rhassoul clay remove excess oil without stripping your skin. If you have oily skin and you’re on a budget, try Cetaphil Daily Cleanser ($8.99, Ulta.com).  We got this skincare recommendation from Miss Universe Barbados, Lesley Chapman-Andrews, who is open about her oily skin and how she takes care of it. For the past two months, I’ve been using Urban Skin Rx Clean And Glow Cleanser ($32.00, UrbanSkinRx.com) and it’s worked wonders on my skin.

After you have your facial cleanser, now it’s time to start your skincare routine. Yes, the steps matter. An easy rule of thumb is to go from the thinnest to thickest formula. I know, it seems extra, but the jade roller will allow for your toners, serums, and products to set into your skin better. The next is a toner. Most people skip this step because they think it’s going to be harsh on their skin and strip them from natural oils. It’s not the case. Most toners are conduits for getting active ingredients into your skin. You can use something natural like witch hazel ($4.89, Target.com). Witch hazel decreases oiliness and speeds up healing of skin (yes, I’m talking to that pimple you just popped). I use toners at night vs. the AM, because I don’t want to strip from the routine I did 8 hours before. Most facial cleansers will return the pH balance to your skin, so you might not need this step, depending on the cleanser you use. The next step is a serum. I’m obsessed with serums. Serums are an easy way to pack healthy ingredients into your skin. My ultimate favorite (and worth the splurge) is The White Company Super Serum – Advanced Multi-Depth Concentrate ($59.00, TheWhiteCompany.com). This serum is anti-aging and protects against UV damage. This is a great morning serum. At night, use a serum with hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is your friend as you get older. It’s great for minimizing and preventing wrinkles and fine lines, speeds up skin healing and plumps up your skin. Lancome Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Serum ($78.00, Sephora.com) is expensive, but it works. People tend to notice a difference in less than two weeks. Serums will cost you more than a moisturizer because of the concentration of ingredients in the product.

After your serum, apply your eye cream. You should start to use an eye cream twice a day in your 20’s. The area around your eyes are the most delicate part of the skin. Using eye cream regularly will keep the eyelid skin elastic and help against collagen loss and those dreaded crows feet. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Gel Cream ($13.84, Walmart.com) is a great affordable option that absorbs quickly into your skin and keeps the eye area moist. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Cream With Avocado ($48.00, SaksFifthAvenue.com) is also a great cream with avocado oil, which is high in Vitamin E and great for nourishing your skin.

After your eye cream, now is the time to spot treat. If you have any acne or hyperpigmentation you are treating, here’s where you do this. Acne spot treating can dry out your skin as the purpose is to remove excess oil that clogs your pores, so definitely only use as a spot treatment. Try Peter Roth AHA/BHA Acne Clearing Gel ($54.00, Sephora.com). A more affordable option is Neutrogena On The Spot Acne Treatment ($4.69, Target.com).

This is an optional step, but at night, I’ve seen great results. After my eye cream, I’ve been incorporating an oil into my routine. Now some people stray from this, stating it clogs pores; however, I find it to do the exact opposite. It has been providing my skin with moisture and helping it remain healthy. I personally use Urban Skin Rx Hydranutrient Radiance Restore Oil ($36.00, UrbanSkinRx.com) has antioxidants, Vitamin A, and omegas that helps keep skin hydrated, promotes an even skin tone and improves the look of fine lines. Another great facial oil is Burts Bees Complete Nourishment Facial Oil ($20.00, BurtsBees.com) that has rosehip, jojoba, and evening primrose which are rich in essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins.

After this, add a moisturizer. Yes, everyone needs a moisturizer (even if you have oily skin). A moisturizer locks everything in. I personally love IT Cosmetics Confidence In A Cream Moisturizer ($48.00, Sephora.com) and have been using it pretty religiously for over a year. At night, use a heavier moisturizer to really replenish your skin. In the morning, after you finish using your moisturizer of choice, don’t forget: sunscreen! Sunscreen should go on your face daily as sun can really speed up aging and add to hyperpigmentation. Try Urban Skin Rx DermShield All Day Sun Protection Mattifying Moisturizer with SPF 30 ($28.00, UrbanSkinRx.com).
