Nepal imports electric vehicles worth over 7 billion from China

By Chitra Mijar, Sindhupalchowk, Aug.19: Electric vehicles worth Rs 7.058 billion have been imported from China through the Tatopani border checkpoint by mid-March of the current fiscal year.

A total of 2,724 electric vehicles have been imported through the Tatopani border crossing via Khasa, China. Of these, 700 are currently at the Tatopani customs yard for a check pass.

All the others have passed the inspection and have already reached the capital.

Seven hundred electric vehicles in the yard will pass inspection and enter the capital by April.

Surya Prasad Kafle, Information Officer at the Tatopani Dry Port Customs Office, said that a revenue of Rs 3.756 billion has been collected from a total of 2,724 electric vehicles.

He said that the country has collected good revenue due to the import of electric vehicles at a higher rate this year than in previous years.

According to the Customs Office, one large electric bus, 11 to 14 seater 280 microbuses, 15 to 25 seater 248 minibuses, 370 cars, jeeps and vans of 50 kW, 1,544 electric cars of 100-kilowatt, 229 electric cars of 200-kilowatt, two electric cars of 300-kilowatt, one electric car above 300-kilowatt, and 41 four-wheel electric cars have been imported from China at the Tatopani border crossing in the current fiscal year.

Chinese electric vehicles of the Omoda, Deepal, Leapmotor, Zebra, MG, Foton, and DFSK brands have reached the capital through the border.

Of these, 700 vehicles will pass inspection by April and will also reach the capital.
