Much of Connecticut will get a few inches of snow Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties will get 2-3 inches, maybe more at higher elevations, the National Weather Service says. There will be less at the shore, but Litchfield County may get as much as 4 inches.

The snow is coming from the west, so Litchfield will get it first, by late morning, said Bill Simpson, a National Weather Service meteorologist. Hartford County should see snow between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and eastern Connecticut will get some early in the afternoon.

It will taper off Wednesday morning.

The snow isn’t expected to be heavy, although it doesn’t take much for roads to get messy.

“This is primarily a light snow event,” Simpson said. “And that will certainly impact the [Tuesday] evening commute.”
